Timetable Golden Rule

A great revision timetable is realistic, flexible, and balanced. Trying to study 8 hours every day leads to burnout. Allocating 2 to 3 focused hours daily with planned breaks yields far better retention for ECZ candidates.

1. Assess Your Total Weekly Study Hours

Count your available non-school hours. On weekdays, aim for 2 to 3 hours after household chores. On weekends, aim for 4 hours split into morning and afternoon blocks.

2. Prioritize Subjects Based on Weakness

Do not give equal time to every subject. If Mathematics and Chemistry are your weakest subjects, schedule them 3 times per week, while stronger subjects like English can be scheduled twice per week.

3. Sample Weekly Schedule Template for Senior Secondary (Grade 12 / GCE)

Day Session 1 (17:00 - 18:15) Break (18:15 - 18:45) Session 2 (18:45 - 20:00)
Monday Mathematics (Paper 1 Questions) Dinner / Rest Biology (Cell Structure & Diagrams)
Tuesday Chemistry (Stoichiometry Calculations) Dinner / Rest English (Comprehension Practice)
Wednesday Physics (Mechanics & Formulas) Dinner / Rest Geography (Mapwork Reading)
Thursday Mathematics (Paper 2 Section B) Dinner / Rest Civic Education (Governance)
Friday Weekly Review & Flashcards Dinner / Rest Group Quiz Session

4. The Pomodoro Technique (50 mins study / 10 mins break)

Break each study hour into 50 minutes of intense focus and 10 minutes of complete rest (stretching, drinking water). This keeps your brain fresh throughout the evening.

5. For Parents & Guardians

Parents can pin this timetable on the wall and ensure family noise is kept low during scheduled revision hours.
